Amik Sherchan: Suggestions given to Oli-Prachanda by the leaders of the people's movement who became the head of Gandaki Pradesh

Gandaki Chief Amik Sherchan on Sunday called on Prachanda, a chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) at his residence in Khumaltar, Lalitpur.Sherchan was the president of the Jana Morcha, a component of the seven-party alliance that led the Jana Andolan in 2062 BS.

After the success of the people's movement, his party and the CPN-Maoist were united.  The UCPN (M) merged with the CPN (UML) to form the current CPN (UML).

The CPN (Maoist) is divided into two factions, one in the government and the other in the streets during the agitation.

 Why did Prachanda become restless?

After reaching the constitutional role of the head of state, Maun said in a brief conversation with the BBC that stability is necessary for the nation, nationality, development and prosperity.

"Apart from wishing everyone the same kind of good, I'm in a position to say no more than that," says Sherchan.

The CPN (Maoist) has filed a no-confidence motion against the Chief Minister in Province 1 and Bagmati.

Leaders of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's party have proposed to the Nepali Congress to join Lumbini and Gandaki provinces, where he is also the chief minister, CPN (Maoist) spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha told BBC.

However, state chief Sher Chan said that he had suggested in favor of the stability of the Gandaki state government, adding that the situation was not the same as in the other two states.

Oli's alternative: 'counter-revolution' or natural politics?

Mentioning that he had an all-party discussion, he said, "We all have the same vision on the stability and prosperity of the state. It is different what the outsiders and the parties do. Go together. You have agreed so far and are moving forward together."  . "

Expressing concern while remembering the past

Referring to the incident in which thousands of people were killed in the armed conflict before the people's movement, he said that he had tried to persuade the Nepali Congress to cooperate with the Maoists against the direct rule of the king.

"I have worked hard to convince a dissident leader like Girija Babu (Girija Prasad Koirala). Once he agrees, the nation has found a way out," says Sherchan. "I have in my mind that it should always be there.  I'm a little worried. "
He was seen with leaders including Girija Prasad Koirala at the protests and rallies of the then seven parties before the Jana Andolan.

After the success of the Jana Andolan, he was the Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister in the Koirala-led government.

Now, Prachanda is in the movement again and Sherchan is in the role of the state chief.

 Suggestion given to Oli-Prachanda

He spoke in support of the US Alliance, but said that maintaining some independence was not the answer.

According to Sherchan, even in meetings with the Prime Minister, the President or Prachanda, he has suggested that it would be better to move forward together.

Giving information that Prachanda went to meet him when he reached Pokhara and when he visited the Prime Minister, Sherchan said that he had given the same suggestion.

"I would suggest that we move forward by giving stability. I am not in an executive role. I have given it to everyone I met," Sherchan said.

 That unanswered question

According to Prachanda's secretariat, Sherchan met Prachanda on Sunday morning and it was under Sherchan's initiative.

Did he suggest to Prachanda to move forward together and for stability?

After this question, no answer was heard on the phone except his 'hello-hello' voice for a while.

After repeated calls, the contact could not be made and the question remained unanswered.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
